"Nice quirky hotel"

The hotel is very clean and tidy and been renovated very quirkyly! It has a real trendy feel! We were on our honeymoon from Australia! The staff were all Lovely and very accommodating and the free shuttle bus made getting to universal studios and the metro so easy! The only downfall is there isn’t really anything close by to eat so their restaurant and or room service is the only rear option at night unless you want to walk a while or catch public transport! I would definitely stay here again though!

We visited the garland for a 2 night stay after completing Route 66 . Lovely modern room and clean grounds to the hotel . Car parking how ever isn’t free and is a little pricey . We paid for the buffet breakfast and it was excellent with what seemed like management keeping check that the buffet was kept stocked up ‘nice touch that didn’t go unnoticed . Restaurant does get busy in the evening so pre book . Good helpful staff . Over all a good visit

"Lovely Hotel, Great Service, Ideal for Universal Studios"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

We stayed 2 nights at the hotel on a visit to Universal Studios. The hotel was open and beautifully decorated. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable and the garden was lit up at night. The rooms were large, clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean and very modern. There were USB ports readily available and the WIFI was excellent. I arrived first and Carlos at the reception made sure that the 2nd guest's name was on the reservation so that he would have no problem getting the 2nd key and coming direct to the room. Carlos was also very helpful answering all our questions about local restaurants etc. Everyone at the front desk, housekeeping staff and the restaurant staff were very helpful. If you are going to the Universal Studios this is a great place. There's a shuttle that runs regularly, for which the schedule is given to you. If there are too many people left behind, it loops around and does another round, which is great. We had room service dinner one night and dinner at the restaurant on the other. The food was good on both occasions. Cons: It's good for Universal Studios (which was our purpose) but far from most other places. The breakfast buffet was not up to par. We ordered from the menu for this reason and that was just mediocre.

... but not much else. Let’s start with the Pros: Very handy for Universal with free shuttle buses to and from the Park & Walk Quirky, original decor sets it apart from chain hotels Pod coffee machine in the room sets you up for the day & mini fridge can be used for storing personal items so you can buy some milk rather than using the powdered creamer supplied Staff are all very friendly and helpful in face to face situations The bed was huge and very comfortable, if it wasn’t for the jet lag I’d have slept like a baby The free Wi-fi worked really well in our room and throughout the hotel The lamps had built in USB ports for charging your phone, so no scratting around under bed-side cabinets looking for sockets! There was also a multi usb charger on the desk - very forward thinking. Cons We had to use a lot of taxis/Ubers to see the various sights. This is true wherever you stay in LA but it might be worth considering somewhere more central/closer to a metro line Coffee/tea wasn’t always replenished and when we called housekeeping for more supplies it was a long wait (about 40 minutes) for them to bring some - even though we were told it would be ‘no more than 7 minutes’ Although the hotel advertises itself as eco-friendly, even when we hung our towels so we could re-use them, they were replaced daily. We stayed in the Portola block on the 6th floor. The rooms aren’t really soundproof. Walking down the corridor you could hear people through their doors. We were close to the Freeway and it was very noisy so I’d suggest you bring earplugs!

What a great place to stay! Really nice atmosphere, the staff are brilliant and super friendly. We stayed in the El Dorado building with a pool view, we requested a quiet room, which I would highly recommend. The room was pretty loud to be honest, but hey you're next to a freeway. Nice rooms overall and well equipped. Pool area here is lovely, 1 large pool with a 1 spa and bar access from the pool, nice place to spend an afternoon in the sun!
