"An average hotel that is close to Disneyland"

We are a Disneyland Annual Pass Holder for several years now and we always passed this hotel whenever we go back home - to Los Angeles, and last Monday we did got the chance to stay for an overnight here. What I like: Price Staff - very accommodating Elevator - fast Distance to Disneyland entrance - walking distance Stores nearby - several restaurants Pools - small but good enough for toddlers ( in the Waterpark) to adults (in the garden) Arcade Room - very small and few old gaming machines The room - comfy bed and pillows. Store - small but convenient Parking lot - big What I don't like: This place is old (70s to 80s) but their brochures and self advertisement called it "Retro". They should renovate the whole place (cough, cough ....Marriott Courtyard across the street) The room - several insects including: spider, cricket and a mosquito (creeps out my kids). WiFi - wifi is free but it is slow or have a weak signal in your room. Buffet place or Dining Room - non existent (no breakfast) No Business Room - except for 2 computers next to the front desk The WaterPark - this place is small and you can see it from the street. While your kids (10 and below) would like to have fun using the slides, the staff will let these drunk adults (who act like they are in Vegas) to have the place as their own and compete with the kids. This place have a small pool that is 1 feet. This place is poorly managed. Microwave - some rooms does not have it. If you only spend a day or two in this place because you wanted to be close to Disneyland and in a budget then this is ok I guess.

"Nice hotel close to Disneyland"

The hotel is a quick walk to Disneyland and restaurants and a bit of a longer walk to Walgreen or CVS for cheap water and snacks. The waterpark was a geared towards younger kids (bit of a disappointment for my adult self) but there is a separate pool as well. Even with my waterpark disappointment I would go back to this hotel.

"Great place close to Disneyland, especially for young families"

This was our second visit to the Howard Johnson Anaheim. Although it wasn't quite as magical as our first stay, I felt it was worth the price we paid. The good: We really enjoyed the hotel and the property being so close to Disneyland and relatively easy to get to off the highway. The splash park and swimming pool gives both kids and adults the ability to enjoy the water, and its separation between the two I believe helped older travelers enjoy the pool area without being over run by kids. Meanwhile, kids and families could live it up and scream and play all they wanted at the splash park. We really enjoyed the walking distance to Disneyland and also having several restaurants close by. It was nice to take in a quick bite on the way home after a great day of magic. Always room for improvement, right? When we got there they said that they had 'upgraded' our room. However, we found that our room was actually a little farther away walking distance wise in the back tower, and they only had 2 queen beds for a family of 5, instead of a King bed and sofa sleeper that we had the last time we stayed. So we had to get a roll away that would have otherwise not been needed, which cramped space a bit. Also being on the 'back tower' we had to park quite a distance from our room due to the limited parking spaces, which wasn't the best situation. My tips, for what they are worth: If you are on the back tower and have to run to your car to get something real quick while the family stays in the room, ALWAYS bring your key (or at least a phone to ask someone in your room to let you back in), as the outer door to the parking lot is locked (which I respect for the security it provides), and if you don't have your key or a way to get someone to open the doors from the inside, you are gonna have a hike to get around to the front entrance of the tower. Again, just a small bit of advice and not a complaint per se, because being near the highway I did appreciate the added security measure. Stay in the 2 story cabanas if you can, instead of the towers. Must easier to get in and out of, and you don't feel as congested. The hotel has a great luggage storage, make sure you utilize this as their guaranteed room time is a little later in the day. And don't forget to tip! The verdict, would we stay again? Possibly... Don't get me wrong, its a perfect hotel if you don't want to spend 'resort' prices for families with smaller kids. However as our family is growing, we didn't partake of the splash park as we did last time, and may look to a different type of hotel the next time we stay that may better suit the ages of our kids. I would highly recommend this hotel to young families and families on a budget that want to be close to the park. Staff was awesome and always made us feel welcome.

"Great location good sized room but VERY THIN WALLS and VERY LOUD PIPES"

location is perfect for Disneyland as it is within walking distance. the rooms are pretty large with some good amenities. HOWEVER, the walls are very very thin. We could hear entire conversations of the people next door. The pipes are also VERY LOUD. so if you are looking for a place to chill out, this is not the place.
