Check in was very efficient and the staff friendly. But instead of IHG welcome points I received a drink voucher but also recommendation to eat and drink in a nearby restaurant. For an IHG hotel the F&B in this hotel is very poor. The bar/restaurant is situated in the lobby and some tables are just placed somewhere, it all looks a bit weird. The valet and concierge are very prompt and friendly. These guys understand their job very well. The rooms are nicely decorated, with huge tv screen, but small. I would have expected a little more. There is no coffeemaker in the room. This means I cannot drink coffee in my bed as I need to get dressed, go down to the lobby, get coffee and then get undressed and into my bed again? I think the hotel should have the guests decide where they like to drink their coffee.

I’ve stayed at some great places in my travels. I usually mix business with vacation. I work hard and play harder. The staff at his Hotel went far beyond for me giving them 5 stars is just not enough. My business dealings went well because they took care of me so I was able to relax. Room Service Exellent thanks to Zak Montanaro everything was perfect. Maria Lepis feom house keeping kept my room pristine. All the guys in valet were on point. The staff should be commended these are some of the Palomar team that made my stay memorable Natalia, Mark, Steven, Kiera, Matt, Douglas , Alejandra, Samantha, Lanie and many more on a scale from 1 to 10...... you guys get a 10. Thank you I can’t wait to some back.

"would not easily refund our deposit"

They asked for $100 a day deposit for the potential use of the snacks in our room. We were there for 7 days, so they took a cash deposit of $700. On the day of our departure they said that we cannot give your cash back, and will mail you a check. It took us more than many attempts to get the funds back. Finally after telling them that we will contact the Better Business Bureau, they mailed us the check. it took more than a month to get our money back. This review is written for all the once that are planning to give them cash as deposit. Have them commit to you that they will give you your money back on the day of your departure.

"Pet-friendly, clean, elegant, and great location"

I wouldn't have normally stayed here but I had a credit I had to use up on HotelTonight and this was the most affordable option on there. I saw that the Kimpton brand is dog-friendly, so we brought along our 55 pound border collie, and he was warmly welcomed! The hotel offered a pet bed and bowls but we didn't need them. I expected the room would smell like dog but it was perfectly clean and free of smells. He was only allowed in the lobby, elevator, and room but we were able to actually eat dinner from the restaurant with him in the lobby and it was really pleasant. The decor in the hotel is beautiful and we really enjoyed the food the two times we dined there. The pool was nice as well, a little on the small side, although it was too cold to use at the time. The hotel does charge $45 a night for valet with in/out privileges (and we never waited more than 5 minutes for it) but that seems to be the going rate for the more upscale LA/Beverly Hills hotels. There isn't much within walking distance of the hotel, just a lot of high rise luxury condominiums and offices, but right behind the hotel is a beautiful residential neighborhood with plenty of public grass/trees that you can walk your dog too quickly which was very convenient, as well as a pet waste bin on the corner of the property. I liked the location as it was right central to Santa Monica/Malibu and Beverly Hills/Hollywood, everything was just a short drive away, even with traffic. Bed was comfortable and the front desk was very welcoming and helpful. It was nice that the hotel offered coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the mornings, although as said in another review, they were removed promptly at 9 AM. You can also purchase coffee and some pastries at the restaurant in lieu of dining in for breakfast.

"Tiny Rooms, $$ Many Upcharges and Terrible Service"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5

All this property has going for it is it's location which is handy to the freeway, UCLA and Santa Monica. The staff needs a training in competence STAT! Any complaint was met with a "not going to do anything" attitude. And the rooms are the smallest we've ever been in, easily. Add $100/night to the rate. Even your upcharges have uncharges as they are taxed, too. Valet parking is $45 and there are daily $20 charges for amenities that no longer exist. So when shopping for a room, add $100 and compare to those in that higher range. But the rooms are truly the worst part, far too tiny for two people. The only guests we saw there were international travelers whose luggage clogged the tiny lobby all morning, and who likely couldn't comprehend all the extra things they were paying for. The coffee is removed on the dot in the morning and there is nothing close by. I wouldn't ever stay here again at any price. The opposite of customer service.
