We have been coming to the Desert Palms for years. In years past we have always found the service to be excellent, but the hotel was aging. Thanks to a new renovation, the rooms are now very nicely appointed. The only complaint we have is that their prices have risen now. The hotel offers several different options for family suites, so be sure to speak to the reservations staff about the different room layouts. As before, the main interior courtyard is still very noisy due to the pool in the middle, so if you want a quiet room, ask for a room on an upper floor towards the back of the property. There is ample parking underground and in the back. The location is good, about a 10 minute walk to the Disneyland main gate, with conveniently located pharmacies and shops across the street. The included breakfast is nothing fancy, but usually does the trick for feeding kids before a day at the resorts.

The location of this hotel is what's kept my family coming back. We've stayed here twice in the past year alone, and it really is a convenient hotel to Disney. We just returned from a big family Disney trip where we stayed at the Desert Palms. Having spent multiple nights here across multiple stays, I decided to share my opinions. Pros: --Walking distance to the park (10 minutes) --7 Eleven and Walgreens super close for snacks or drugs --Nicely sized rooms with suites available (Family Suite is great!) --Free breakfast and parking --Great breakfast area --Early check-in (for a fee) --They'll hold your bags until check-in so you can go to Disney Cons: --Resort fee (which basically negates the free breakfast and free parking) --The pillows are horrible! Bring your own or buy one when you get there. --Front desk doesn't seem to care about helping (didn't send more pillows when asked) --The hallways are a maze with different elevators going to different floors. Very easy to get lost. --Breakfast is subpar at best. Powdered eggs are abysmal. --Early check-in costs $40 a room. Seriously? We stayed at this hotel for a large family gettogether and were unable to get rooms near each other. This was a minor inconvenience, but one worth noting. The room sizes are great; I have stayed in the family suite, the two queens room, and the mini-suite with the pull out sofa bed. All were comfortable and great after a long day at Disney. I felt the beds were uncomfortable, but no one else in my party complained. This hotel is not the cheapest hotel within walking distance to Disneyland, nor is it the most expensive. While not my favorite hotel (as an annual passholder, I have stayed at my fair share), I would stay here again if the price was right.

My family of 6 stayed here for 7 nights in April and it was a wonderful hotel. We chose the room with a kitchen and it worked perfectly for our family. It was a clean an updated hotel. Our room looked just like the pictures online. The pool was large and clean with lots of chairs for parents who may not want to swim to sit in. The breakfast was a nice bonus and started at 6:30 so we could still make it to Disney park opening. It is walking distance to the park. It looks like it may be far on the map but it took us less than 15 minutes to walk. It is also located next to many convenient places, 7-Eleven, CVS and tons of food places. The staff was very nice. This is my new go to hotel for Disney.

Hotel very nice. Staff very friendly. In house restaurant was fine. It would be nice if they changed the movie in the lobby on a daily basis. It is a walk to the Park. In the morning ok but after a day in the Parks - ugh! The bus they recommend was not at all convenient.

"We will no longer be staying at Desert Palms"

Updated review: I’m so sad to say but we will no longer be staying at Desert Palms. My family of 4 recently decided to get Disney annual passes and had a few trips we wanted to book starting in February, March and May. We called on a Saturday afternoon and spoke to a young woman. We were told the room rates were double what they normally are in February and we must stay a minimum of 3 nights because “there’s a lot of conventions and we can charge that much”. Even after all of our loyalty and trying to book multiple stays at once we were not aloud to stay 2 nights in February without paying an additional $400 for a night we wouldn’t be there. The girl was highly unprofessional, and could care less that we were loooong time repeat guests. She said if you don’t like it call back when a manager is here, so we did....several times. We even stopped by when we were on our trip in February and staying at another hotel still no manager around and no call to discuss things or try to make things right. Conclusion: I refuse to work this hard to stay at a hotel that we have enjoyed all these years. If they do not value us and our loyalty than we will not value them. Advice: Get some management around on the weekends it’s pretty bad when they aren’t there to supervise. I cringe thinking about how many other guests have been turned away or won’t be returning. And maybe get some more training for individuals answering the phones phone etiquette is important.
