Although I only travel for pleasure nowadays, for twenty years, I flew constantly on business...once a week, often twice a week, all over the nation. Because my workers or the companies that we did business with made the reservations (often for conventions or to visit companies in the area), the rooms were not always under my name, but I have been staying at this hotel many times over the years since at least 1992 or so. As such, I was so happy that for this fun trip to Disneyland and Beverly Hills with my long-time girlfriend, I picked Desert Palms as I always liked it there and was feeling kind of nostalgic. A place that you like is always even more fun to go to when one is not working. This hotel has always been nice, but this trip really surprised me, it is now even better than ever in so many ways! We stayed one night here, on the night of Tuesday, 08/07/18, and I must say that for my long-time girlfriend and I, it was a first class experience every step of the way...we were both so very impressed! We travel a ton lately and have to say that the service we experienced here (at Desert Palms Suites) from every level was more befitting of the Ritz Carltons and Waldorf-Astorias (Key West) where we have also had the recent pleasure of staying. We were both so very pleasantly surprised and amazed at how good the service and experience here was. To say that we were impressed with the service here from the first moment is an understatement...blown away is more like it. From the very start, my first phone call with Wendy of Desert Palms Suites, who was absolutely wonderful, set the tone for excellence. I had been stressed since I had previously tried the night before to use an online travel site and experienced some difficulties in booking a room. Through her directly, she made the reservation process a pleasure and helped alleviate any concerns I may have had from my prior failed attempt through a non-hotel website. My next contact with Desert Palm Suites was when I received an email from Kristen Brown in Guest Services, welcoming me and asking "Is there something more I can do for you?"...this really surprised and impressed me, especially for a hotel which is almost right next to Disneyland. I actually wrote back to thank her and let her know that while I didn't need anything more, how impressed I was to receive her email. Kristen was really great and a true asset to the company...she genuinely cares. I also let her know that Wendy on the phone had been absolutely wonderful as well. I must say this was a fantastic start and we hadn't even arrived at the hotel yet! Upon arrival at the hotel, I was feeling sweaty and fried due to the unusually insane 104 degree weather in Anaheim that day. I am so embarassed that I did not remember the name of the front desk person/counter guy that checked us in, but he surprised us as well. I always say that receptionist or the front desk person is always the face of the company as he or she is the first person a customer sees and interacts with upon entering...first impressions mean a lot and continue on into the overall experience. Anyway, this gentleman behind the counter was so nicely dressed...in the nicest, most beautifully tailored suit (and I know fine clothing!), with absolutely perfect, fashionably styled hair. He was so proper and professional...you could that he cared a lot about his appearance and went above and beyond in putting forward a proper corporate image. As we checked in, I even told him that he looked like he should be at the front desk of the Ritz-Carlton or something...he certainly had the look and the demeanor. :) BTW, from what we saw, the excellent service extended to all levels there, not just higher up...during our stay, we ran into three or four different hotel workers in the hallways and elevators there that were part of the cleaning staff and they were all great...all smiles, pleasant, and most important of all, they looked happy, wishing us a nice day. Perhaps it is because I am always happy and outgoing to everyone (in life, the world treats you the way you treat others, you get what you give), but even then, this is not the norm from what I have seen in countless other hotels over the years. From our experience, the service here was great! The suite that we had on the fourth floor (room 430), was absolutely perfect...the room was clean, fresh, nicely appointed, and beautifully painted/maintained. I can't think of a single thing in that room that could be improved for a better experience...it was that good! I am sometimes extremely OCD like Monk on the television show and I notice things that most people wouldn't even begin to see...I've been in far more expensive hotels all over the nation that didn't come anywhere near how nice and perfectly prepared this room was. Case in point, the La Concha hotel in Key West where we stayed in June...they could certainly learn a thing or two (or ten!) as despite their historical significance, they were lacking in so many ways in comparison. The difference was like night and day...it was almost laughable as Desert Palms was far superior in every way. I noticed in another review where someone mentioned noise and also homeless people. We didn't experience any of that...it was extremely quiet the night that we were there and traditionally, I always try to get the highest floor I can which helps in so many ways, no matter where I stay. Great location...had no problems walking around the neighborhood and the 7Eleven on the corner was pretty convenient as well. As for late night, we did come back late, but can't speak from experience as we took an Uber Black from the restaurant so didn't walk around at that hour, but it seemed perfectly nice and quiet as we pulled in...didn't see anybody outside and certainly not any undesirables. I personally had no worries at all in that regard, this is Anaheim, not San Francisco. Needless to say, we absolutely loved our stay at Desert Palms...no complaints whatsoever and will always be our very first choice the next time we are down here...no need to consider anywhere else as we liked it that much. Best hotel experience we have had in a long time! I wish all hotels were this good...highly, highly recommended!!!

We booked The Desert Palms Hotel for our first Disneyland experience. Due to the good reviews and proximity of the location within walking distance. The price was hefty at $230/night but we thought it’d be worth it for the convenience. When we arrived, from our long travel day from Michigan, (We actually flew into SD and rented a car to drive up to Anaheim) the girl at the front desk was friendly but could not answer some questions that we had. We let it go, went to our room and walked to our dinner in Downtown Disney. We we came back from dinner, we were ready for bed so we could get a good nights sleep for our day at Disney. First thing I found was a bug in my room. Grossed me out, but I flushed it and went about my night. As we tried to fall asleep, all we could hear was jumping, door banging, running around screaming at the top of their lungs kids. It sounded like they were throwing the furniture!! But we thought they were probably just excited & winding down from Disney and their parents would have them under control soon. NOPE! We called the front desk after midnight and the noise didn’t stop until after 2am. Front desk did nothing!! Got up to use the bathroom and found another bug. (I do realize bugs happen but the feel of the place gave me heebie-jeebies. The next night was more of the same only we called the desk at 1:30am. And again they did nothing. If you’re looking for a good nights rest, this isn’t the place for you. The hotel needs to enforce “quite hours” for those who actually like to sleep after traveling or a long day at the parks. Did I mention breakfast? Cold disgusting eggs, I’m sorry, “omelettes” are served. Pineapple wasn’t fresh either so unless you want a donut or cereal you are SOL. Day 2 we skipped the free breakfast and had a very nice time sitting in California Adventure at Starbucks with a latte, banana & scone waiting for the ripe drop. Save your money and your mind and stay someplace else. The hotel ended up costing over $600 for two sleepless nights and an out dated room with bugs by the time they add on all the taxes & fees . Next time I’ll pay the extra to stay on Disney’s property. Lesson learned.

This hotel started off great at the beginning, great lobby and staff initally. The hotel environment is unsafe, lots of homeless people peering in windows and in the parking lots in the evenings and mornings. Some staff were very unfriendly and non-personable and uncaring. Some staff were great. The amenities in our room was less than stellar...broken fridge and microwave, bad plumbing. The accounting department made several errors in charging my 4-day stay at least 5 different times while we were there...it has taken them over a week to remove all incorrect charges. Watch your credit card during your stay, be careful of the unsafe parking lots and premises in the evenings.

We had reservations at a different hotel and once we got there we were not happy at all so we had to get another hotel at last minute. Desert palms was able to accommodate us very good and were amazing and nice. Definitely staying here again! Highly recommend!

We stayed here in July for 7 days... Hey is it perfect no but is it just adequate no... it is more than that. The room we had was perfect for small families it had a queen or king bed in the main room and a double bunk in the kids room they loved it a double bed each.... The hotel is in easy walking distance from the Disney precinct and in easy walking distance from IHOP, The tea leaf company, Bubba Gump and the cheese cake factory... there is a CVS across the road. The hotel includes breakfast daily and although not gourmet it is enough, a few hot options, cereal, toast, bakery, self cooking waffle stations and some fruit, coffee and juice all available saving you at least 1 meal per day. The staff are friendly and helpful, the lobby shop is good and run by a helpful family and if they don't have it there is a 7 Eleven next door and another convenient store next to it. Would definitely stay here again
