"Not Coming Back"

We've been staying at the Airtel for years. In 2013 we wrote a relatively glowing review. Here it is 2018, and my how things have changed. We quickly discovered the the TV remote would not work more than 3 feet away, so it would work, but not from across the room on the sofa or the bed. Thinking the remote just needed a fresh set of batteries, we tried to call the front desk, but guess what — the phone didn't work. I call from my cell phone, and a maintenance person brings batteries. He was very nice, and explained that new batteries were not going to help because the remotes have range issues. Some rooms have better remotes, but there are not enough good remotes to go around. The next knock at the door was a gentleman who explained that not all the phones work because of a new phone system being installed. He kindly offered some passes to the breakfast buffet for our inconvenience, but the thing is, wouldn't it have made more sense to take room with no working phone out of the rotation? The vanity area was crawling with ants, and the lighting was, according to my wife, "every woman's nightmare," and when you turn on the water, it lets out a loud harmonic howl. I am not exaggerating. Oh, and she was none too pleased about the water pressure in the shower either. We were in the "tower" building. Maybe it has trouble reaching the 3rd floor? The next day, my card key stopped working. We tried the other key, and that didn't work either. I took them to the front desk, and the woman looked at one of the cards, and tries to tell me the reason it doesn't work is because the magnetic stripe had a fingerprint on it. I tried to get across to her that's not how the principles of magnetism work, and even if it did, it would not cause both cards to spontaneously stop working. She was not persuaded, but she did give me two new cards. When I went to exit the parking lot, the car in front of me was taking forever to get the gate to open. She's on the intercom to the office to get them to override the gate. Finally it's my turn, and I soon find out what was taking so long. I insert the pink card, and the machine complains that it has "no data." Guess who's on the intercom now while cars are lining up? Lastly, the whole neighborhood where the Airtel is located has totally gone to seed. The hotel can pour money into fixing up the place, but they're not going to change the tide of what that community has turned into. I'm sorry Airtel. It was good while it lasted, but we're moving on.

"Sometimes You Miss The Mark"

To get a top rating a hotel needs to excel in all areas, and sometimes even the best fail. This was the case when my wife went to visit our daughter and new grandson for 4 days. She liked everything about the hotel, but they missed the mark on service. My wife has had 3 back surgeries in 2 years and will receive a knee replacement in 2 weeks, so this trip was her last in a while. It's tough for her to get around, which is very obvious in just watching her try and walk, so having a room on an upper floor and a long ways from the elevator compounds her pain. One night when she returned to her room her key wouldn't work, she walked to the end of the hall and used the hotels phone, the front desk sent someone up to check the lock. She had to stand so long waiting that she nearly laid down in tears. Finally the guy shows up, his key works... hers doesn't. He gave her a new key. The next night... it happens again! This time she knew she couldn't stand and wait, so she took the elevator to the front desk where they made her yet another key. For most of us that's just an inconvenience, but for her it was agonizing and made for a long night of pain. I asked what the hotel had to say about this or what they did... she said nothing. For me, that misses the mark of a top rated hotel.

Checking in was so easy with my family. After a long days of travel we FINALLY made it to L.A. Sometimes it's hard to travel with the little ones but Jerry made it so easy.By this point everyone was hungry, tired, and sleepy. But I felt so relieved when we didn't even have to bring the luggage up ourselves. It finally felt like a vacation. Jerry even gave us a good recommendation on what to eat at the restaurant. The shrimp alfredo was so good, we got some before we checked out!

The airtel plaza is located in the van nuys suburb of great Los Angeles ,its location requires some non public transportation as we understood, in our case we are on tour trip and came by travel agency bus, As for the amenities in hotel :large lobby, large A/C rooms, large bathroom,a percolator for coffee, I didn’t use it having my own kettle which being European power standards isn’t quite suitable for America, however is still provide 1/4 electrical power for boiling a regular water glass. Around we found some petrol stations with convenience shops but not much else. The American style breakfast is fully offered and kept me personally in no need to lunch or dinner for the rest of the day
