Room in tower was large enough with king bed and room to spare. Restaurant decent food but a little pricy. Two downsides 1. Parking was $15.00 a day 2. Noise from Van Nuys airport irritating at times.

I like this place, add a pilot, it keeps me close to the airport, but, really, it needs to come into the 1990s, let alone the 2000s!. Clean rooms, but lacking in all the 'standard' features - mini bar, coffee/tea with biscuits/cookies office desk set up, if wanting to work.... Dated would be the best description. Bar could do with better lighting, was almost dark, no good for reading, if eating alone.

If I could do a half star I would. I have been to way better sketchy/super cheap motels that were better than this crappy place. You walk in and it looks cool that's why they would get a 1/2 star. Then you get to your roim and it's like what the hell. The a/c was broken. We asked them to fix it while we we're out to our mid day activities. We got back asked if it was taken care of and even before we said our room we got told it was fixed. We go in and it was even hotter than when we left.. Yes people we were using it properly. We had to request a room change and when we got to our next room it was big looked ok. Then we find out that the beds are hard metal springs that felt like they were 30yrs old. The metal actually grinded into me all night. When you more on the bed it was loud squeaking noises. There were 3 people in my party. There were only 3 pillows on the bed that sleeps 2 so one person got 2 pancake pillows and the other got 1. Now for the gripe on the pillows that were so flat that a folded towel was thicker and more comfortable than The pillow. Again the room sleeps 4 were only 2 towels and when trying to call to get more no one was answering the phone. There was 1 cup of coffee for 3 people again no one to answer the phone so we had to go down the the front desk to get anything done. The wall paper was peeling off the walls, the sheets had stains and the employees were not helpful at all. You can pay less and get way batter than this joint don't get sucked in by the glitz and glamour of an air plane museum that i did.

"Pilot’s kind of place"

This was a weeklong business trip and this hotel was chosen because of its proximity to the business office. Let’s get the negatives out of the way first so we can talk about the many positives. The room itself was fine but a little shopworn and tired. The carpet was worn and had numerous stains. The magnetic door lock was very balky requiring repeated tries before the door unlocked; the TV remote only worked now and then; and the internet access code was unreliable and usually required assistance from the front desk to connect. All of these things were minor annoyances. On the plus side the service personnel provided outstanding customer service. The van drivers in particular were courteous and provided prompt and efficient service, even at odd hours. The breakfast buffet was better than most, and the optional seating on the patio provided ample opportunity to watch flight activity on the adjacent VNY airport. As a pilot I loved the very large model of a PanAm B-747 gracing the lobby as well as other aviation artifacts such as a large polished aluminum engine cowling near the front desk. I have fond memories of trips on PanAm when the classic 747 was new and was the most exciting thing in the skies. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Airtel Plaza despite some things being less than perfect.
